Wolverine hands down. He would easily be able to break through Carnage's Symbiote.

Well I am a wolvie fan but I dont think Carnage is a pushover by any means. I do however think Wolverine would slice through the symbiote and do damage to the host. Good answer nightterror.

Remember that Spiderman and Venom were needed to defeat Carnage. And Spiderman is already a big opponent for Wolverine. I personally think this would happen:
Wolverine runs to Carnage like hell and slices lots of things in two that Carnage throws at him.
But while running Carnage still does great damage to Wolverine, like he chops of most of the flesh at some points and Wolverine's eyeball gets destroyed or something like that.
Maybe Wolverine is a better figher but Carnage is must more powerful and just as agile as Spiderman.
I think mostly because of his healing factor that Wolverine still has a great chance. Mostly because Carnage is a psycho and probably didnt count on the healing factor.
So if Wolverines does get in close combat with Carnage there is a chance that he can break through to the host with his claws. But remember that Carnage can just try to stay at long range and he could easily do that. Then he just keeps hitting Wolverine till he gets knocked out. And then (maybe) find a way to kill him.
So I personally think that Carnage would win. But I never count Wolverine out mostly because of his healing factor.

Well schnitzelmic the problem with that scenerio (which I do think is a very good one btw) is carnage is absolutely insane and loves getting up close and personal with his victims. I think he like to see the fear on their faces. I think Carnage would simply try to outslug Wolvie and that would be his downfall but this fight would be just brutal.

I still think Carnage would win though. He is immensily strong far beyond venom and spiderman. So even in close combat he is far stronger than Wolverine.

Strength isn't everything in a fight guys. Wolvie has traded blows with the Hulk before and came out on top. Wolverine is used to fighting immensely powerful opponents i.e. Juggernaut and still coming out virtually unscathed thanks to an unbreakable skeleton and an almost unequaled healing factor.

I dont know cheekybuddha but I most certainly would love to see it. It almost seems as if I remember seeing a symbiote with claws but I can't place it.

when has wolverine came out on top against the hulk.every match i have ever seen between hulk and wolverine{the green skinned hulk, not the weaker gray skin}hulk has either beat wolverine or they stopped fighting.wasn't their a comic where hulk rips wolverine in half?oh and i would give the match to carnage.{if carnage was so easy to beat it wouldn't have taken both venom and spiderman to do so}but i see your point about wolverine getting to the host.just don't think he could do it in time before he was sliced up himself.

In New Avengers #2, Carnage is one of several supervillains trying to escape from The Raft.[12] Sentry finishes him off, flying Carnage outside the Earth's atmosphere and ripping him apart. According to Iron Man's computer, Kasady may not have been inside the symbiote when the Sentry ripped it apart.[13] However, it is later discovered that Kasady did in fact die in the incident, and that the symbiote will return to Earth to find a new female host

They both can heal pretty quickly but Carnage can only fight for one day without rest, Wolverine can fight for seven, I think that gives him the edge.

Also, I saw a symbiote with claws but it was in the Spider Man game "Web of Shadows." Wolverine got jumped by symbiotes and one bonded with him.
