Batman is a hero because he has no superpowers. He fights super powered individuals on a daily basis with only his training and brilliant mind and "oh those wonderful toys". From the way you are defining hero I guess Captain America wouldn't be hero either because he has no "super powers" either. Being a hero isnt determined by how much you can bench press but rather how much heart you have and Batman certainly has that and more.

"a fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers" --Merriam-Webster Well, both Batman and Captain America easily fall into that category (btw cap doesn't have superstrength most of the time) b/c of their exceptional fighting prowess and other various skills that put them at the peak of human perfection. That's pretty extraordinary. Here's the URL for the marvel rpg with official stats of cap and generated stats for batman: www.classicmarvelforever.com/cast/captain_america.htm, www.classicmarvelforever.com/cast/batman.htm
